The Garo franchise began as a live-action dark fantasy television series in 2005. This is the second television anime for the franchise, with the first–Garo the Animation–airing in 2014. This anime features a different setting, story, and cast of characters from the previous Garo works.

This story takes place in the metropolis of Russel City.

Sword, a Makai Knight with the title of “Garo” spends his days alone fighting off Horrors—evil beasts from the demon world that possess humans—in order to protect the town. One day while defeating Horrors, Sword comes upon the mysterious keyword “El Dorado.” Sensing a larger conspiracy on the side of the Horrors behind this keyword, he not only continues his extermination of Horrors, but also searches for the true meaning of the keyword “El Dorado.”

Amongst all of this, Sword meets a girl named Sophie. Sophie is also searching for the meaning behind the word “El Dorado,” which her elder brother left behind for her when he disappeared. Sophie, who has lost her brother, and Sword, who lost his younger sister in the past. These two, brought together by the words “El Dorado,” feel a bond between each other, and begin to work together.

And so, this journey of entangled feelings begins…
