Do you enjoy gambling? How about cheating? Well there’s a new mobile game that combines the two: Kakegurui Cheating Allowed.
Enter the world of Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler in the new mobile game Kakegurui Cheating Allowed. Take on the story mode and gamble against your favorite characters from the anime or go online in player vs. player (PvP) mode. But, this isn’t any ordinary gambling game. Everyone will be cheating and it’s up to you to out-cheat everybody to win.
I’m not the biggest gambler myself. But, if fake money is involved then I’m all in (no pun intended). The demo of the new Kakegurui mobile game really provides you with that safe, yet high-stakes gambling experience with two games: blackjack in story mode and the modified rock-paper-scissors we see in the first episode of the series in PvP mode. They’re both very simple games to grasp and anyone can master the basics in just a few minutes. With blackjack get up to, but not above 21; Jacks, Queens, and Kings have a value of 10; Aces have a value of 1 or 11; a Jack and Ace combination is the strongest pair. So, it’s all a matter of knowing a bit of probability and luck of the draw.
The rock-paper-scissors, though, is a little more involved. Because you’re randomly assigned three rock, paper, or scissors cards, there’s more luck involved in winning. Luckily, there’s a nice bar in the top right corner of the screen that shows you the percentage of each card in one bar graph. This allows you to tailor your play and gambling strategy as needed. But, not looking at it adds a thrill to the game and really puts you into the position of the series main character Yumeko Jabami.
It wouldn’t be a Kakegurui game without cheating, though. As the title of the game implies, cheating is allowed in the game. There are a few ways to go about this. There’s the obvious looking at the other players screen in PvP mode if you’re close together—something I did. However, in the game, you have a selection of Kakegurui characters you can call on to help you cheat. The demo featured the character Yumeko, Ryōta Suzui, Mary Saotome, Runa Yomozui, and Yumemi Yumemite. They all have different cheating abilities, such as looking at one card in your opponents hand. But, what makes each character unique is how their abilities effectiveness varies depending on the game you’re playing. This allows for a lot of gameplay options and strategies for players and makes the game that much more enjoyable. Players will likely have to collect these and more character in story mode, but as you amass them the more cheating you’ll be able to do.
For a game about gambling and cheating, the demo of Kakegurui Cheating Allowed provides players with a good experience. It’ll be fun seeing the other games from Kakegurui that are added and all the cheating options available to players when the game is released.
Kakegurui — Compulsive Gambler is currently not streaming outside of Japan. However, it has been licensed for streaming by Netflix.
