Since the property’s twentieth anniversary in 2012, goods have been coming out constantly for Naoko Takeuchi’s magical girl classic Sailor Moon. While stuffed animals are nothing new for the franchise, this new teddy bear is special. Mostly because of its price point.

German luxury stuffed animal maker Steiff is collaborating with Sailor Moon in order to produce a limited edition stuffed bear themed after the magical girl heroine. However, while the brand’s stuffed animals run at a higher price than most, this special bear will run for the whopping price of 40,000 yen (about USD $358) to 43,200 yen (USD $387) with tax included.

Each bear, made in Germany, will come with its own unique serial number, which is written on the tag attached to its ear.

The left foot of each bear will be embroidered with a moon symbol and Sailor Moon logo.

This bear is made from mohair, a fabric made from the hair of an Angora goat and is more expensive than sheep wool cloth. Only 1,992 bears will be produced. Quite fitting, as 1992 is the year when Sailor Moon began serialization in manga magazine Nakayoshi. The bear will come with its own Steiff box.

Pre-orders are currently being accepted on the Premium Bandai website. Bears are scheduled to arrive for customers in late December.

Viz has licensed the original Sailor Moon anime as well as the reboot series Sailor Moon Crystal for home video release in North America. The old series can be viewed on Hulu, while Crunchyroll streams the latter on its website.
