After the Rain (Koi ha Ameagari no youni)—a romance manga about a a high school girl and a 45-year old restaurant manager—is becoming an anime. This anime adapting Jun Mayuzuki’s manga, which has been serializing in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine since 2014, will be premiering next January.
The story of After the Rain revolves around Akira Tachibana, a seventeen-year old girl who was once the ace of her high school’s track team, but quit after something happened. Although she’s bad at expressing her feelings on her face and is misunderstood by those around her due to her cool attitude, she is deeply in love with Masaomi Kondo, the manager at the family restaurant she part-times at.
Commenting on the announcement, original creator Mayuzuki said, “Having my manga adapted into anime wasn’t a dream, but a goal, but when they offered to adapt my work into animation it felt like a dream. I did it! Everyone, please watch it!”
The first promotional video for the anime will air on Friday at 1:05 a.m. JST during the airing of Scum’s Wish on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block, where the anime will also make its home next year.
