Recreating episodes of the anime with figures? Count me in.
With the second season of Sunrise’s Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans anime in full swing, it seems like the perfect timing for Bandai to hold an exhibit showing off their newest plastic Gundam models (called Gunpla). At the Ikebukuro Parco department store, a Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans exhibit was held for fans to check out free of charge.
The entrance greeted visitors with not only a giant Gundam Barbatos statue, but also signatures from Mikazuki and Akihiro voice actors Kengo Kawanishi and Takumi Yasuaki.
Oh? What’s in those little boxes marked with episode numbers? They’re recreations of battles from the anime! First off, there’s the battle with Mikazuki on Mars in episode one:
Next is the Mikazuki versus Gaelio and McGillis fight featured in episode 5:
And let’s not forget the clash of Mikazuki and Ein in episode 24:
The center of the gallery featured a giant, grand battle in space:
The exhibit also showed off Gundam plastic models, including Shino’s Ryusei-Go (Graze Custom II).
The many forms of protagonist Mikazuki’s Gundam Barbatos.
Yukinojo’s Kutan Sangata, with the model on the left having Barbatos snug inside it.
The Schwalbe Graze in two versions: McGillis (seen above) and Gaelio (seen bottom right).
Gaelio’s Gundam Kimaris.
Carta’s Graze Ritter.
The exhibit also had two models with no specs released: the Gundam Vidar and the Gundam Flauros. We’ll have to keep watching Iron-Blooded Orphans to see who will pilot these mechs.
The Man Rodi (seen top left) and Kudal’s Gundam Gusion (seen top right).
Gundam Astaroth, the Mobile Suit of Argi Mirage, the protagonist of the Iron-Blooded Orphans spinoff manga Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Gekkō. The Gundam Astaroth Origin model was also on display (seen below).
The 1/100 FULL MECHANICS Gundam Barbatos Lupus.
An exhibit case displaying the different versions of the Mikazuki bust model and how it was made.
The exhibit also had key frames from both seasons of the anime.
The exhibit also featured goods that are on sale for the series, including cookies, glasses, mugs, teacups, and actual tea to put in them (all items seen below).
