Originally created by Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino, the Gundam franchise began in 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam. The newest installment in the franchise–Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans–features a new story and new characters from all past installments. The first season of Iron-Blooded Orphans aired from October 2015 to March 2016. A second season was announced during the final episode of the first.
Mikazuki Augus is part of Tekkadan, an organization that jumped to fame from the battles involving the escorting of Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth and the Arbrau primary elections. The conflict exposed the corruption of Gjallarhorn as well, and the world was changing slowly but surely.
Tekkadan, with the rights to halfmetal as negotiated with Arbrau, became a direct affiliate of Teiwaz. That resulted in abundant funds and more people interested in joining, growing massively to even have a branch on Earth.
Kudelia, learning about the world from her journey to Earth, founded Admoss Company to strive for the financial independence of Mars both in reality and in practice. However, there are many who do not look favorably on the rise of the youngsters who are trying to start something new.
Admoss Company will be inspecting a mining site of halfmetal, and hired Tekkadan to guard them. There, the leader of Tekkadan, Orga Itsuka, senses an attack from a new enemy. Under Orga’s command, Tekkadan, including Mikazuki in the mobile suit Gundam Barbatos Lupus, head out to repel the enemy.

A boy who belongs to Tekkadan. During a previous battle with Gjallarhorn, he over-used the Alaya-Vijnana system, and consequently he has lost all sensation in his right eye and hand. However, these sensations can be restored by connecting to the Alaya-Vijnana system, and so he has continued fighting as the pilot of the Gundam Barbatos Lupus.
Voice: Yoshimasa Hosoya
The leader of Tekkadan. He succeeded in earning overnight fame for Tekkadan during the fighting that surrounded the Arbrau representative election. Thanks to Tekkadan’s accomplishments, the organization has greatly expanded. But its family of members have not stopped working to protect the future and they are determined to keep moving forward.
Voice: Yuichiro Umehara
The deputy leader of Tekkadan. During battle, he sometimes takes command in Orga’s place. Lately he has been reading strategy guidebooks to take the load off his leader. His ability to pilot ships using the Alaya-Vijnana system is quite remarkable.
Voice: Taishi Murata
Captain of Tekkadan’s First Working Unit. He gives the impression of being a joker, but cares very much about his comrades. He also serves as a drill instructor for new recruits.
Voice: Yasuaki Takumi
Captain of Tekkadan’s Second Working Unit. He has a well-trained body, and specializes in tasks such as defensive combat and long-duration mobile suit operation.
Voice: Kohei Amasaki
A member of Tekkadan’s Earth branch, who is renting an apartment with his sister Fuka. With his kind-hearted and caring personality, he helps Chad run the Earth branch.
Voice: Soma Saito
A Tekkadan mechanic. Together with Yukinojo, he is responsible for maintaining Tekkadan’s mobile suits and mobile workers. Though taciturn, he has a kindly nature.
Voice: Mutsumi Tamura
A sharp-tongued child soldier who is nonetheless spirited and cares for his comrades. He also designed the Tekkadan emblem. As a member of Akihiro’s Second Working Unit, he fights on the front lines during combat.
Voice: Ryota Osaka
A new member of Tekkadan. Due to his personal history, he has a keen interest in the Alaya-Vijnana system and the ace pilot Mikazuki.
Voice: Makoto Furukawa
A new member of Tekkadan. He joined the group hoping to become a cool grown-up, and his instructor often admonishes him for his frivolity and lack of seriousness during drills.
Voice: Subaru Kimura
A taciturn new member with a large build. He has a calm personality and quietly agrees with the comments of other members. Despite his size, he specializes in precision work, and so he is assigned to the maintenance crew.
Voice: Hisako Kanemoto
Tekkadan’s head cook. Now that Tekkadan has a good cash flow, she can purchase new ingredients that she was previously never able to buy, and she invents new menu items on a daily basis. She remains as fond of Mikazuki as ever.
Kudelia Aina Bernstein
Voice: Yuka Terasaki
After the Arbrau prime minister election, she completed the negotiations over halfmetal rights and returned to Mars. Establishing the Admoss Company to handle the primary processing and distribution of halfmetal, she now serves as its representative. She is still active in advocating for Mars’ economic independence, sponsoring work for the unemployed, and so forth.

A secretary and clerk on whom the Admoss Company relies. She deeply admires Kudelia, and covers for her unreliable company president.
Voice: Takahiro Sakurai
After the death of Carta Issue, he has become the commander of the Outer Earth Orbit Regulatory Joint Fleet. He is trying to erase the suspicions of Earth’s economic blocs toward Gjallarhorn. As he participates in meetings of the Seven Stars as a representative of the Fareed family, his influence within Gjallarhorn continues to expand.
Voice: Tomoaki Maeno
A shy subordinate of McGillis. Thanks to his unique network, he has access to information of Outer Sphere, and he also has high skill as a mobile suit pilot.
Voice: Toru Okawa
The head of the Elion family, one of the Seven Stars, who serves as commander of the Outer Lunar Orbit Joint Fleet Arianrhod. With a heroic personality and the firm support of his subordinates, he has unquestioned influence within Gjallarhorn. He observes and counters McGillis’s secret maneuvering within the organization.
Voice: Nobunaga Shimazaki
The head of the Kujan family, one of the Seven Stars. He is responsible for part of the Arianrhod Fleet. Though he has command authority over his unit, he sometimes enters the battlefield himself as a pilot.
A mobile suit pilot who belongs to the Arianrhod Fleet. Though she has no pedigree or rank, her piloting skills are outstanding, and Rustal took note of her abilities and assigned her to Arianrhod. She uses a customized version of the Reginlaze, the successor to the Graze.
Gundam Barbatos Lupus
The Tekkadan Gundam used by Mikazuki Augus. It has taken on a new form after fighting many battles and being upgraded with Teiwaz technology. All its weapons have also been enhanced. This is one of the Gundam Frames used in the Calamity War about 300 years earlier.
Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City
Like the Barbatos, the Gusion Rebake has also been upgraded by Teiwaz into a new form after sustaining severe damage. It retains its previous gimmicks of high-sensitivity camera sensors in the head for long-range precision fire and a “face open” mode for close-range use, and new armament has also been added, including weapons more specialized for close combat.
A general-purpose mobile suit manufactured as a mass-production model based on Teiwaz’s Hyakuri and Hyakuren. It has a good balance of mobility, combat ability, and interchangeable equipment. Tekkadan, whose fighting strength is highly regarded within Teiwaz, has received a priority deployment at low cost.
