Season: Summer 2016
Premiere Date: July 1, 2016

Kentaro Miura began his Berserk manga in Hakusensha’s Monthly Animal House magazine in 1989, and the manga remained there until 1992 when it moved to the magazine Young Animal. A 25-episode anime adaptation aired in Japan in 1997, and a new trilogy of films with different cast and staff members were released between 2012 and 2013.

A new television anime that serves as a sequel to the original 1989 show was announced in December 2015.

The original manga is published by Dark Horse Comics in North America. Media Blasters has licensed the original anime for North American release, and Viz Media licensed and released the films. The Berserk franchise has also inspired two video games: one for the Sega Dreamcast, and one for the Sony PlayStation 2.

The night comes again… The night on which the Black Swordsman howls.

With violent rage in his heart, the Black Swordsman Guts continues his seemingly endless quest for revenge. The ones standing in the way of his goal are a cruel, inhuman outlaw and a devout servant of God. In order to face these foes with unimaginable strength, Guts has thoroughly trained his body and refined his technique. Guts will continue to fight with all his strength as a human, whittling away his life all the while.

What waits for him at the end of his journey?

The answer is still waiting in the depths of the night.

Stare at the darkness with eyes wide open!
