Mob Psycho 100
Genre: Sci-Fi, Comedy
Season: Summer 2016
Premiere Date: July 12, 2016
One-Punch Man creator ONE began his Mob Psycho 100 manga on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website in 2012, and it started being serialized simultaneously on the company’s MangaONE smartphone application in 2014. An anime adaptation was announced in February 2016.
In Japanese, the term “mob” refers to a background character, or someone who doesn’t stand out.
Mob is a boy who explodes when something inside of him reaches 100. He looks fairly normal. Actually, he looks pretty dull, to be honest. Even though he lacks the ability to read the room, he is blessed with a superpower. A fraudulent psychic, a religious organization, a delinquent gang boss, and a mysterious, secret organization all have eyes on him because of his powers. With all this craziness, is there any chance of Mob living a normal life?
Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama
Voice: Setsuo Itō
A fairly normal second-year student in middle school despite his super powers. He’s terrible at reading the room, and has trouble speaking. When the emotions he hides all the time reach 100% capacity, his powers explode!
Voice: Takahiro Sakurai
A self-proclaimed psychic who runs the “Spirits and Stuff Consultation Office.” However, in truth, he has no psychic powers whatsoever, and he relies completely on his assistant Mob, whom he hired for 300 yen (about USD $3) an hour. However, he sometimes displays a shocking amount of insight.
Voice: Akio Ōtsuka
An ambitious, high-class evil spirit that aims to become a god.
Voice: Miyu Irino
Mob’s younger brother who is a member of their middle school’s student council.
Teruki “Teru” Hanazawa
Voice: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
The first person with super powers apart from himself that Mob meets. His nickname is Teru.
Voice: Uki Satake
A second-year student in middle school. Her childhood friend Mob has a bit of a crush on her.
